THE STORY OF CHICAGO'S UNKNOWN SERIAL KILLER
THE CHICAGO 51
51 women murdered, 0 answers
BY THE NUMBERS
Dating back to 2001, 51 women have been strangled and their killers walk free. The women are predominantly black and have died outdoors on Chicago's south, far south, and west sides.
In 2019, the non-profit organization The Murder Accountability Project (MAP) published a report detailing similarities in the 51 deaths and flagging Chicago's low clearance rate for female strangulation. MAP believes these similarities suggest a serial killer is at large in Chicago.
This is the story of Chicago's 51 women whose lives ended with out an answer. This is the story of how the words "serial killer" have become synonymous with their tragic ends. This is the story of how we can't stop talking about them and asking for answers.
